This type of kart event is suitable for those starting out. The kart is driven, one at a time, over a course marked by cones on either sides as quickly an possible so that no cones are knocked down and the run is timed. Knocking down any cones will incur a time penalty.
Karting slalom teaches people, especially young drivers, the basics of driving and the safety aspects that can be applied from racing to driving on public roads. The focus is on precision driving to develop essential skills like steering control, throttle modulation and braking techniques.

Volunteering in motorsport is one of the best ways to learn more about the industry and gain access to some of the most exciting events of the year in Singapore—for free! It’s also a great way to make friends and expand your network. The opportunities for volunteers range from essential administrative work and hands-on technical support to providing life-saving safety cover and managing the fair play of events, all contributing to its overall success. From pits and paddock to trackside, volunteers have the opportunity to be trained in all aspects of the sport. A marshal is known to have the best seat at the event. Volunteering provides a rewarding way to go behind the scenes and get closest to the action. The sense of camaraderie and excitement at every event is unlike any other.
All that is required is your time, which will be exchanged for knowledge, experience, and friendship. Join our like-minded community that is generous with their time and knowledge out of love for motorsport, and because we all remember how it feels to register as a motorsport volunteer for the first time.

Generally, there are no minimum age requirements; however, criteria are established in the interest of health and safety. Volunteers are welcome at any age, although the duties of persons below18 years old may be limited in certain situations, including deployment to trackside roles. Volunteers are accredited up to the age of 80. Anyone below the age of 64 is welcome to register as a new volunteer. Exceptions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Motor Sports Singapore offers equal opportunities at all levels, barring a few legal exemptions and additional screenings. Volunteers may be required to provide full disclosure of medical records, including a doctor’s letter before deployment at our events. Once the administrative matters are in order, there’s nothing stopping you from pursuing your passion.

New volunteers are required to attend one (1) online training session on Marshal Conduct and Safety Protocols. Upon completion, you may sign up for your first event as a Trainee Marshal. Trainee Marshals are observed for at least three events before being awarded the MSS Officials License along with a welcome kit. Areas of observation include:
- Demonstration of skillsets in the allocated role
- Knowledge of the event and regulations
- Carrying out of duties ethically and with the highest standards of integrity
- Respect for the sport, event, and all personnel
- Aptitude for leadership
- Proactiveness and initiative
- Situational awareness and safety
- Teamwork
- Receptiveness to feedback
- Clarity of thought and communication
Complementary to events, trainings are provided to equip volunteers with the adequate and relevant skillsets to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. This is also an opportunity for volunteers to be cross-trained and to learn about other aspects and roles within the sport. Attendance at these trainings contributes to the annual review of volunteer performance.
This process ensures that volunteers interested in renewing their MSS Officials License maintain currency in their knowledge and skills. It is also helpful towards the allocation of roles for each event and promotion to positions that shoulder more responsibility, including taking care of fellow volunteers.
Dormant volunteers will be reached out to periodically and may be removed from the system for privacy reasons.
Motorsport is dangerous; this is a fact. Motor Sports Singapore ensures that risks are managed and mitigated through regulations, training, assessment of events, inspection of venues, and issuing of volunteer licenses only to marshals who are adept.
No prior knowledge or experience is required. Just sign up and show up with positive energy and a big smile, ready for a big day.
Motor Sports Singapore organizes a range of events annually across all automotive disciplines, such as Cars, Go-Karts, Motorcycles and Esports. Our race calendar is announced at the start of each year. To qualify for the automatic renewal of the MSS Officials License, volunteers must attend at least four events each calendar year. Volunteers who do not register for any events in a full calendar year are deemed dormant.
Volunteers are encouraged to have personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, a whistle, etc. However, do not spend money on any kit until you have completed several events and want to continue on this journey. MSS is able to loan these to you for your first few events.
If unsure whether volunteering is for you, come observe any of our upcoming events. An MSS ambassador will be more than happy to speak with you and show you around the event to deepen your understanding and address your queries.

Motor Sports Singapore recognizes and acknowledges the efforts of all volunteers, especially outstanding volunteers during its annual awards ceremony, with potential nominations for international awards. Digital certificates of participation are issued to volunteers after successful completion of each event attended.
If at any time you find yourself unsuitable as a motorsport volunteer, highlight your concerns to the Chairperson of the Volunteers and Officials Commission to discuss alternative pathways and/or exit protocols.
